The prologue to Last Gasp by Robert F Barker is an interplay between routine surveillance and the stress of operations not going to plan. The prologue also sets-off the tone of the novel and introduces Barker as a skilled writer. The characters remain nameless. The reader is an observer just as the police squad is voyeurs to a liaison between a client and a dominatrix. When things go un-expected, pressure mounts. The book launches finding DCI Carver, the somewhat preoccupied detective, at the gates of a mansion in what promises to be a most intriguing read.

The opportunity I had in 1975 was enormous. There were no casinos on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, and nothing in Louisiana other than horse racing. The Louisiana lottery didn’t get voted in until sixteen years later. We had people hungry for gambling, and they came in droves once the word got out.
Here are some topics my gaming clients found interesting when we would sit around a table in a cocktail lounge at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas or Harrah Lake Tahoe. They loved to hear the stories, and at times, they were part of the story. The problems, demands, and things that went wrong are just too crazy to dream up.

This is clever writing and a clever story. Calling a hero Chaos is a clue to what is to follow. Conflict and suspense and surprising twists. Complicated world and some not so very nice characters. I love a baddie - demons taking human form to do what? Well you'll have to get it to find out! A great read

Well, I love any story to do with the Holy Grail add my second fav genre, paranormal, this sounds like a very exciting read. Of course, there would have to be a romance, his princess what makes me step back and think is the mention of a mental illness. Is all this a figure of his imagination? It's a short story and very intriguing.

There's nothing like a love story, that pulls you along as if you are travelling that journey with the characters!

Her characters are 3d, and her hard sci-fi setting is researched impeccably. Novella-length book one, "Point of no return," serves as an introduction, constructing the hooks that power future volumes and ramping up the tension and mystery.

From the opening pages, the reader gets drawn into a world of intrigue and suspense. The writer continues to hold your attention without fail, don't miss this one, it reads like a binge-worthy show on Netflix!

I love horror and mysteries with historical settings and find it specially interesting for a werewolf story. I loved the cover, which conveys a great mood and invites the reader to embark on this dark tale.

The premise for Behold Darkness is interesting and intriguing. Its an assimilation of terrorism and zombies to spell out extinction of man and the fight for survival. Kudos to LC Champlin for his imagination. The story is simply is a must read!

Baby boomers dreaming of higher things? Oh yes, count me in. The real innovation in science fiction is a lot closer to home than we realize - among us. Sue Hollister Barr's Boomers of the Stars is just a small slice of a much large pie of magnificence we need right now. Don't miss it.
An unusual futuristic setting in an old people's home. To begin with I was as confused as the Altzheimer residents who are the central characters of the story. This was mainly because of the Japanese slang. But the story kept me on track. It held my attention because the action was from the point of view of 2 residents and the rather dodgy manager of the home. I liked that it focused on attitudes to an aging populus and the illnesses which often go alongside this. It's easy to read once you get over the Japanese slang. The characters are engaging and believable as is the futuristic world it's set in.
Sharp, layered and a rollicking ride from the first chapter, SHIPS by Sue Hollister Barr put me squarely in this unlikely heroine's shoes and left me wanting more.
Very interesting cover art, and love futuristic tales involving aliens...especially when I wrote about one particular shapeshifting alien that escapes from Area 51 in one of my books. I picked this up to write a blurb then couldn't put it down! Really good SF about a future where Statists and Corporations are at war. It has a detailed and interesting outer space setting, an original take on warp speed and likeable characters. Great stuff.

From the opening pages, the reader gets drawn into a world of intrigue and suspense. The writer continues to hold your attention without fail, don't miss this one, it reads like a binge-worthy show on Netflix!
